About Me
I like to think of myself as a runner. However, I never ran or played a sport in college and I do not think I could ever qualify for the vigorous Boston Marathon qualifying times. But I am a runner. I know this because I am willing to wake up at 5:00AM just to get in my daily run. I also run in 20 degree weather, sleet, snow and rain just to get in my run. I never travel without my sneakers to explore a new city on my daily run.
I have been through three full marathon training programs and have completed two Boston Marathons. The first year I was injured and was not able to run, but the marathon itch was with me. The following year I took a job with the Muscular Dystrophy Association doing fundraising and event planning. They had a marathon team and I had a goal to complete! I was a little nervous about the $2500 they required to receive a spot on their team. I was even more nervous when they asked me for my credit card number as a place holder! It was very fortunate that I held a job working with patients with Muscular Dystrophy. I was able to see first hand their strength and hope for a future remedy. I believe I was able to inspire people to donate to my cause by passing on this hope for a cure.
I am happy to say I have successfully completed three marathons and raised over $8,000 for Muscular Dystrophy patients and services. The marathon and the money I have raised are my best accomplishments.
